It’s fall camp at Ohio State, and that means we’re on black-stripe alert watch over at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, especially for those who were not early enrollees.
We’ve already seen a couple of Buckeye newcomers lose their black stripe early in the fall, and we witnessed another on Sunday thanks to an announcement on the Ohio State Football Twitter account.
And it’s a big one.
Five-star linebacker C.J. Hicks was the latest to shed his black stripe and “officially” become a Buckeye. The honor happened in a short ceremony with Hicks saying a few words in front of his OSU teammates.
“First off, I want to thank God for helping me out with everything,” Hicks said. “I want to thank coach Coy for helping me every day, I want to thank every single one of y’all for helping every day as well. Go Bucks!”

We’ll continue to keep an eye on any further black stripes that come off in the near future. You can bet we’ll see more as we get closer to the start of the season.
