An iconic butchers in Leeds has hit back at a fiery reviewer who said she felt like “puking” just by looking at the “corpses”.
Malcolm Michaels Quality Butcher told the woman, Maria Santacasilda, to “grow up” after her scathing online critique of the store.
Malcolm Michaels has risen to prominence since it began in 1993, through a range of charitable campaigns and a large social media presence, reports Leeds Live.
The butcher has recently relocated from Kirkgate Market to Crossgates Shopping Centre.
Santacasilda left a review on its Facebook page, saying the store was “simply DISGUSTING”.
“I do NOT eat CORPSES. I feel like puking just by looking at it. It’s certainly beyond GROSS.”
Malcolm Michaels was quick to hit back, saying “Maria, you are disgusting”.
“Leaving a bad review because it doesn’t suit your opinion. Grow up.”
Others on Facebook came to Malcolm Michaels' defence, telling Maria to "just walk past or go another route", asked about the "plants you're murdering" and one even called her a "muppet".
The butchers posted on Facebook about the incident, asking their followers for more supportive reviews to cancel out Maria's "silly" diatribe.
The post said: "Love a good read on a morning... Can you help us drown these silly comments out with good ones! Leave us a review on meat, pies or the lovely staff we don't mind and I'm sure some will boost egos (if they ever needed it)."
Since Malcolm Michaels Facebook post, numerous reviews praising the shop have flooded in.
Kirkgate Market is one of the largest indoor markets in Europe. It opened in 1981 and typically has 800 stalls which attract over 100,000 visitors a week.
Earlier this month fishmongers condemned Leeds City Council after a fishmonger was drenched in a “stinky” bag as it was nicknamed by local traders at Kirkgate Market.
The "stinky" bag hangs right above Fish and Game Row in the Leeds city centre market, collecting rainwater which it then drains into buckets, reported Leeds Live .
The "stinky" water collector burst all over a fishmonger, who was just going about his day.
It comes after a series of complaints about the council from vendors, including Malcolm Leary and another butcher J.P. Johnston's has condemned the council for serving him an eviction notice in the post after 43 years of trading there
