'But Ten Hag was wrong' - Man United fans make same Cristiano Ronaldo point after World XI absence

Manchester United supporters were quick to suggest Erik ten Hag was right to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club after he missed out on a place in the World XI.

The Portuguese forward was absent from the FIFA FIFPRO Men's World 11 for the first time since 2006, with the 38-year-old having been included in the team consistently in recent years.

Ronaldo, who left United in November following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan, has impressed since joining Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr in January. However, it did not earn enough votes from his fellow professionals to earn a spot this time around.

He had scored just three goals in 16 appearances for United this season prior to his departure from the club, and has bagged eight times in six matches since moving to Saudi Arabia. Regardless, he was snubbed for the World XI - and Reds fans were quick to react to the news.

Here's what some United supporters had to say on social media...

Elsewhere, Reds midfielder Casemiro was part of the midfield in the World 11, alongside Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Luka Modric of Real Madrid. In attack, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema all made the team.

The defence features Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk, Paris Saint-Germain ace Achraf Hakimi and Joao Cancelo, who left City in January to join Bayern Munich on loan.

Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois is in goal, having won La Liga and the Champions League last term.

The full FIFPro Men's World XI: Thibaut Courtois; Joao Cancelo, Virgil van Dijk, Achraf Hakimi; Casemiro, Kevin De Bruyne, Luka Modric; Karim Benzema, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi.
