A busy road has been closed following a 'horror crash' in Edinburgh.
Police have cordoned off Ferry Road, at the junction with Muirhouse Green in the south of the capital, after the accident happened on Wednesday night. It's understood the crash involved 'multiple vehicles' and the road remains closed.
A picture taken from the scene showed ambulance crews and several police in attendance. The road could be seen to have been taped off by officers.
An eye-witness told Edinburgh Live: "Ferry Road is completely closed at Muirhouse Green. Police, ambulance, everything there.
"There's multiple vehicles involved and cars are being diverted around."
Lothian Buses updated passengers at 8.25pm, stating: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Ferry Road and are instead diverted via Groathill Road North, Telford Road and Corbiehill Road in both directions until further notice."
It's currently unclear how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured following the collision.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Following a road traffic collision in Edinburgh the following road closures will be in place for the coming hours. Closures are on Ferry Road at Ferry Gait Drive and Wester Drylaw Place to Muirhouse Green."
Officers have been approached for further comment.
