Mersey Police Dogs hailed three of its four-legged heroes in the early hours of this morning as Yoda, Wilson and Quga put in impressive shifts in the fight against crime.
Police Dog Yoda was called into action when a male discarded his rucksack on seeing police, who subsequently stopped him.
Officers tweeted: "PD Yoda’s incredible nose was called into action again tonight.
"Local patrols had stopped a male who had discarded his rucksack upon sighting police.
"PD Yoda searched the area and located the bag with a quantity of drugs still inside!"
However, Police Dog Wilson refused to be overshadowed by his furry colleague on the shift.
Officers tweeted: "PD Wilson has had a busy shift!
"A male wanted for affray made off from patrols. PD Wilson arrived on scene and announced his presence, which was swiftly followed by the male's surrender! A wise decision!"
It was now the turn of Police Dog Quga to hit the limelight in Crosby.
Officers later tweeted: "A male fled from officers in the Crosby area.
"Following a foot chase the male was detained but it was unclear why the male ran.
"That was until PD Quga attended and located his discarded knife under a car. One off to custody and another knife taken off the streets!"
