Busy Glasgow rail line closed after person struck by train

A busy Glasgow rail line has been closed after a person was struck by a train.

ScotRail said services between Port Glasgow and Wemyss Bay have been cancelled following the incident earlier this evening. Emergency services raced to the scene at around 5.30pm.

The track is currently blocked stopping services from resuming. ScotRail posted the tragic new on Twitter at around 5.50pm.

The Tweet read: "Sadly, a person has been struck by a train between Port Glasgow and Wemyss Bay. This means we can't run trains as the line is currently blocked. We're working closely with the emergency services to get the line reopened, but we've no estimate for this at present."

Tickets are being accepted with McGill’s Buses on 906 and 901 services. Passengers are asked to show valid tickets or Smartcard to the driver when boarding the bus.
