A busy Cardiff road is set to close overnight over the course of two months as works to strengthen a railway bridge take place. Works to strengthen Caerphilly Road Railway Bridge is set to begin at the end of March, with a diversion route put in place for motorists to use during that time.
Owned by Transport for Wales (TfW), the bridge is in need of remedial work to ensure that its structure is safe. As work takes place, night-time road closures will be put in place on Caerphilly Road between Ty-Wern and Waun-Y-Groes Avenue.
The closures are set to take place from the end of March until the end of May on specified nights. Road closures are set to take place between the following times and dates:
- From 8pm on March 25 until 5am on March 26
- From 8pm on April 1 until 5am on April 2
- From 8pm on April 15 until 5am on April 16
- From 8pm on April 22 until 5am on April 23
- From 8pm on April 29 until 5am on April 30
- From 8pm on May 6 until 5am on May 7
- From 8pm on May 13 until 5am on May 14
- From 8pm on May 20 until 5am on May 21
- From 8pm on May 27until 5am on May 28
For all motor vehicles that are under 14.9 ft in height, a signed diversion route will be put in place via Heathwood Road, Fidlas Road, Ty-Glas Avenue and Ty-Glas Road. For any vehicles that are above this height restriction, a signed diversion route will be put in place via Ty-Wern Road, Pant-Bach Road, Beulah Road and back onto Caerphilly Road. It understood that the work on the railway bridge will be completed and re-opened in early June.
