A MOTORBIKE rider was seen carrying a jerry can into a building at Lake Macquarie then running from the scene before it burned down overnight.
Emergency services were called to a business on The Esplanade at Warners Bay at about 10.30pm on Sunday, August 18, after reports a blaze had broken out.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the flames.
The business was destroyed in the fire but no injuries were reported, police confirmed.
Lake Macquarie officers were called and set up a crime scene, which was combed for clues.
As their investigation continues on Monday, police have revealed a motorcycle rider was seen riding around the area before entering the property, carrying a jerry can, then running from the scene.
Police said they wish to speak to the rider and have appealed for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
