'Business as usual' at Glasgow bars and restaurant as hospitality group goes into liquidation

Glasgow customers have been reassured it is "business as usual" for several of the city's most popular bars and restaurants after its owners went into liquidation.

As revealed by Glasgow Live, Kained Holdings, which owns Lebowskis, Porter & Rye, Oyster Bar, and The Finnieston, has been court-ordered to be wound up as it is unable to pay its debts. Wylie & Bissett were appointed as liquidators and it is understood jobs have been secured.

In the wake of the news, concern grew for the future of the much-loved Glasgow venues, but customers have now been told the units will not be closing.

Sharing a statement on social media, Lebowskis West said: "Given today’s news coverage and the reaction, we wanted to reach out to you, our customers, our suppliers and our friends to reassure you we are still here!

"It's business as usual for Porter & Rye, Lebowskis West, The Finnieston Bar & Restaurant and its Oyster Bar.

"The units are not closed and will not be closing – their futures are secure, as are the jobs of the amazing teams who work there.

"Same staff, same venues, same buildings, same offerings.

"Thank you to everyone who has got in touch, we appreciate and understand your concern, but the outlets are here to stay and your bookings are safe.

"Thank you as always for your support."

Speaking about the liquidation, owner Graham Suttle, told Glasgow Live: "It’s sad to see a company started by three friends all those years ago coming to an end.

"However despite horrendous problems from Covid, lockdown and other issues, and a lot of diligent work in the background from our teams, I am at least hugely relieved that we have managed to secure the jobs of those amazing people who make our business what it is.

"It is business as usual for our much-loved bars and restaurants."
