Business as usual at Altnagelvin Garden Centre in Derry

The owners of one of Derry’s largest and best-loved garden centres say it's still very much business as usual.

Altnagelvin Garden Centre, on Irish Street, has enjoyed over four decades of ownership by the same family.

The 1.25 acre garden centre, which is well known for its wide range of high-quality plants as well as Christmas trees and pet supplies, is a favourite destination for shoppers from Derry and further afield.

Started by her parents in 1977, the business has continued to grow year on year as the site has expanded along with their customer base.

"Our business is currently listed for sale as a going concern. This means we have no intention for the business to close down or cease trading but rather be under new ownership and remain as Altnagelvin Garden Centre with minimal changes to the day to day runnings in order for myself and my husband to retire," Pauline told MyDerry.

"We're still operating as normal, with regular opening times and a great selection of stock and new stock constantly arriving. Our Christmas showroom is also now open and our large selection of fresh cut real Christmas trees will be arriving within a matter of weeks."

She added: "We would like to highlight and let the general population of Northern Ireland know that it is very much business as usual for Altnagelvin Garden Centre and that there are no changes to the business and no proposed plans to close down or cease trading as the current business.

"We are continuing to prepare and buy new stock as we get ready for Christmas and for many years of trading ahead as Altnagelvin Garden Centre."
