More than 100 workers will lose their jobs at Fortescue Metals, as the mining giant becomes the latest company to shed workers.
The redundancies were "business as usual for rapidly evolving global companies", a Fortescue spokesman said on Friday.
The spokesman said Fortescue was growing rapidly and allocating resources to North America to respond to opportunities in the Inflation Reduction Act.
He said projects such as Fortescue's Iron Bridge magnetite project in the Pilbara was coming into production and work on developing an iron ore mine in the central African nation of Gabon was just beginning.
"As this occurs project staffing naturally ebbs and flows," the spokesman said.
Xero and Atlassian also announced hundreds of redundancies this week.
