Bus strike involving almost 400 workers suspended after revised pay deal table

A strike that would have involved almost 400 workers across Merseyside has been suspended after a revised pay offer was tabled.

Unite announced last week that 370 of its members employed by Stagecoach were to take part in industrial action on Thursday, June 30, and Monday, July 4.

The workers are employed as bus drivers and engineers and are based at the company’s Gilmoss depot.

At the time, Unite said the drivers were "looking for a fair deal" that would raise the current pay rate of £12.69 an hour.

However, the union has now confirmed the strike action set for Thursday, June 30, has been suspended.

It added that it is now in the process balloting its members on the revised offer.

Unite regional officer Dave Roberts said: "Following lengthy negotiations Stagecoach came forward with a revised offer, which Unite’s members are now being balloted on."

The union added that if offer is rejected by members the second strike scheduled for Monday, July 4, will go ahead as planned.
