A bus was damaged after hitting a level crossing at a train station.
Merseyrail services on the Northern Line were temporarily stopped after a vehicle crashed into the level crossing at Birkdale Train Station. The vehicle, believed to be a stagecoach bus, crashed into the barrier on Weld Road at around 9pm on Tuesday, July 26.
Pictures from the scene show one of the barriers snapped on the road next to the level crossing. The bus stopped at the scene and has some small damage to the roof, close to the back end of the vehicle.

Merseyside Police and a Network Rail response unit are at the scene, where cars are no longer able to use the crossing. A small sign was placed in the road which said "this level crossing is temporarily out of use".
When the incident first happened, the 9.13pm Merseyrail train from Liverpool Central to Hunts Cross was delayed, meaning the service ran non stop and only called at Hunts Cross. All other trains on the line are running as normal while Network Rail engineers work at the scene.
