Bus crashes into Glasgow railway bridge causing travel chaos

A bus crashed into a railway bridge in Glasgow - throwing train services into chaos today.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to attend the scene following the incident, which disrupted services between Glasgow Central and Paisley.

As reported by our sister title, Glasgow Live, road closures are in place and drivers have been warned to avoid the area to ensure emergency services have access. The area around Cook Street, near the O2 Academy appears to be the worst affected.

Police Scotland posted a statement on Twitter warning drivers to use alternative routes.

It said: "Officers are responding to a crash involving a bus on Cook Street, Glasgow. Road closures are in place, including Salkeld Street, Kilbirnie Street and Commerce Street.

"Drivers should use an alternative route, and people should avoid the area to allow emergency services access."

Scotrail has advised passengers that trains to Paisley Gilmour Street are affected, saying they may be delayed, revised or cancelled.
