Bus bar where you can 'pretend you're in Ibiza' set to return

A popular bus bar is set to make a welcomed return to Merseyside.

The Bus Yard is a pop-up food and drink venue that debuted at Crosby marina last summer and has been told it can make a welcomed return to the Sefton coastline this summer. Following the good news, the bar has revealed that it is to reopen this weekend ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday.

The pop-up venue quickly became a firm favourite with those in the area and people travelling to the coast for a sunny day out, with people even comparing it to Ibiza when the weather is right. Andy Laird, one of the directors of the successful hospitality bus, told the ECHO that this year it will be "bigger and better" as he confirmed that the business has secured a three-year agreement with the council that will see them open for six months of the year from April to September.

He said: "We had a lot of people against us in the beginning with real concerns from people that this was going to be a shambles but as we explained to the council we are a licenced premises. Part of your duty is to make sure everyone is intact, essentially babysitting.

"We went down for the first two weeks and even did a litter pick and it's come on leaps and bounds. Any complaints turned into people asking us to stay for longer.

"We had our Baltic site open in July last year and then we had an invitation to come and do a second stint in August. We went back and had another amazing time.

"As the winter went on the council put it out to tender and it was successful in the way that we won a three-year contract with the council for six months of the year. We're really excited about it and it's going to be bigger and better. As time goes on we'll extend, have live entertainment on and we want to bring the community in as well by doing fundraising and charity work."

Last year it proved so popular with people that they took to social media to share how they felt. Pat Mack wrote on Facebook : "We were there for tea today. Lovely food and drink and great service. Please don’t leave."

Katie Netherway said: "Was sat on the top deck, sunnies on, drink in my hand. I was basically in Ibiza!"

Andy confirmed that the Bus Yard is looking to have a soft launch on Good Friday with it being back in full flow this weekend ahead of what is set to be another busy summer.
