Bury bonfire and fireworks displays taking place in 2022

It will soon be that time of year again when bright lights fill the sky and the smell of gunpowder fills the air.

This year, Bonfire Night falls on Saturday, November 5. While many city councils across Greater Manchester are cancelling their Bonfire Night displays this year, there are still a number of independent events taking place.

Bonfire Night is celebrated every year in commemoration of the failed gunpowder plot which sought to blow up the House of Lords and King James I in 1605. The plot was famously initiated by Guy Fawkes, which is why some people refer to the holiday as Guy Fawkes Night.
