GOAL! Osasuna 2-4 Real Madrid (Munoz 90+1)

A peedie consolation at the death.

Full time: Burnley 2-1 Brentford

Burnley still have a slim chance of survival after an important victory over Brentford, who were a goal and a man down inside 10 minutes.

Burnley 2-1 Brentford They’re still playing at Turf Moor, where the Burnley keeper Arijanet Muric is receiving treatment after being caught by Ivan Toney.

Full time: Celtic 3-1 St Johnstone A predictably comfortable win for Celtic, who go back to the top of the table for at least 18 hours.

GOAL! Ipswich 6-0 Sheff Wed (Al-Hamadi 90)

I don’t know the cost of a season ticket at Portman Road for the 2023-24 season. I do know that it was pretty, pretty good value.

GOAL! Luton 1-1 Nottm Forest (Berry 89)

Luton have done it again! The substitute Luke Berry has scored a priceless late equaliser, finishing smartly on the turn after a deep corner was headed down by Reece Burke.

It’s Berry’s first Premier League goal, and it drags Forest below Brentford and Everton, back down to 17th. It’s Spandex-tight down there.

GOAL! Celtic 3-1 St Johnstone (C Smith 81)

Connor Smith has grabbed a consolatin at Celtic Park.

GOAL! Burnley 2-1 Brentford (Ajer 83)

Brentford are back in it! Kristoffer Ajer has given them a sniff by heading in off the post from Shandon Baptiste’s cross. Bryan Mbeumo came off the bench after three months out and has apparently made a big difference.

Updated

GOAL! Ipswich 5-0 Sheff Wed (Al-Hamadi 80)

And it’s 5-0 at Portman Road as well.

League One: Lincoln 5-0 Bristol Rovers Reeco Hackett has scored Lincoln’s fifth goal, and their 16th in the last three games. Blimey.

Luton 0-1 Nottingham Forest On Sky Sports, Paul Merson keeps using the same word to describe Forest in the second half: “comfortable”. It sounds like Luton are tired after a gruelling week.

GOALS! Derby 1-0 Bolton (Wilson 78); Peterborough 0-1 Portsmouth (Yengi 77)

Two big goals at the top of League One!

“After enduring, alongside a couple of thousand others, 90 minutes of absolute drivel from a Dundee United side in Dunfermline last night that would have had Jim McLean jailed for 11 counts of GBH, I’m reduced to checking updates from the Queens Park v Raith Rovers game today in the Scottish Championship,” weeps Simon McMahon. “A win for Raith would take them top, a draw would see them go level on points with United. It’s currently 0-0, but I think I know how it will end. We play them at Tannadice in a fortnight, having lost twice to them already this season. I’m nervous already. Please tell me it’ll be alright.”

You don’t need me to tell you, you know full well it’ll never be alright.

GOAL! Osasuna 1-4 Real Madrid (Vini Jr 64)

His second, Real’s fourth.

WSL match report: Everton 1-2 Aston Villa

GOAL! Osasuna 1-3 Real Madrid (Diaz 61)

Brahim Diaz has extended Real’s lead – in the game, and almost certainly at the top of La Liga. A long kick from the keeper was headed on towards Diaz, who scurried through on goal and finished calmly.

Updated

Luton 0-1 Nottingham Forest By all accounts Forest have been in control in the second half. Defeat today would complete a miserable week for Luton, who lost a 3-0 lead at Bournemouth on Wednesday.

GOAL! Celtic 3-0 St Johnstone (Forrest 68)

We’re done here.

Osasuna 1-2 Real Madrid (3.15pm)

Full time: SV Darmstadt 98 2-5 Bayern Munich

A bit of news from this game: Harry Kane went off just before the end with an ankle injury after colliding with a post. No word yet whether it is serious or merely a precaution.

Updated

Luton 0-1 Nottingham Forest Blimey, Murillo has almost scored with a 70-yard free-kick! Apparently it brought a desperate save from Thomas Kaminski, who had to scramble back to tip the ball over the bar.

GOAL! SV Darmstadt 98 2-5 Bayern Munich (Vilhelmsson 90+5)

So much for 5-1.

GOAL! Burnley 2-0 Brentford (Fofana 62)

David Fofana has finished off a Burnley counter-attack to make it 2-0! That’s a big goal for Burnley and potentially an even bigger one for Everton, Luton and Nottingham Forest.

Bayern troll Arsenal by making it 5-1, the scoreline by which they beat the Gunners in both legs of their last Champions League tie.

In case you missed it, Coventry stunned Wolves at the death to win a classic FA Cup tie at Molineux.

GOAL! Ipswich 4-0 Sheff Wed (Hutchinson 48)

We’re done here. Ipswich are playing some lovely stuff by the sounds of it, and Omari Hutchinson has just scored his second goal.

Luton 0-1 Nottingham Forest Teden Mengi has made a terrific goalline clearance, the second by a Luton player today, to stop Anthony Elanga making it 2-0.

GOAL! Celtic 2-0 St Johnstone (Kuhn 46)

Nicholas-Gerrit Kuhn’s goal should ensure that Celtic go top of the table tonight. Rangers are at Dundee tomorrow.

GOAL! SV Darmstadt 98 1-4 Bayern Munich (Gnabry 74)

Serge Gnabry, who has just come on, makes it 4-1 after a clever through ball from Jamal Musiala.

League One: Lincoln 3-0 Bristol Rovers

“Obviously you can’t cover everyone,” says Tom Hopkins, “but I wanted to give a quick shout out to Lincoln City: 14 goals in the last two and a half games! I would…..quite like my team not to have to face them in the play offs.”

GOAL! SV Darmstadt 98 1-3 Bayern Munich (Musiala 64)

After flirting with fresh embarrassment in the first half, Bayern look like they’re on course for victory.

Burnley 1-0 Brentford

David Fofana almost does a Gary Crosby! Well, sort of. He lurked behind the Brentford keeper Mark Flekken, waiting for him to drop the ball at his feet. When he did so Fofana appeared from nowhere to nick the ball… and then slipped over. A few minutes later he missed an open goal from Assignon’s cross, so he’s not having his finest hour.

Updated

GOAL! Ipswich 3-0 Sheff Wed (Broadhead 45+1)

That’ll do. Nathan Broadhead finishes a crisp move to give Ipswich a surely unassailable lead at Portman Road. This is what it means at the top of the Championship table.

Pos Team P GD Pts
1 Leicester 37 41 82
2 Ipswich 38 28 81
3 Leeds 37 40 79
4 Southampton 36 26 73
5 West Brom 38 22 66

Burnley 1-0 Brentford Now Muric has made a fantastic save to deny Yoane Wissa and maintain Burnley’s lead at Turf Moor.

Burnley 1-0 Brentford One moment to look out for on the highlights – a comical, blind backpass from Dara O’Shea that was going into the net until the Burnley keeper Arijanet Muric made a desperate sliding clearance on the line.

GOAL DISALLOWED! Luton 0-1 Nottm Forest

Teden Mengi has had a goal disallowed for handball. It sounds like a fairly straightforward decision, one that the referee Darren England made on the field. Mengi controlled a corner with his arm, almost certainly not on purpose, and volleyed in from close range.

Updated

GOAL! Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone (Kyogo 40)

Celtic were five minutes away from the ignominy of a goaless first half; Kyogo Furuhashi has rescued them.

GOAL! Ipswich 2-0 Sheff Wed (Burgess 37)

Cameron Burgess scores from close range to double Ipswich’s lead. They are on course to move ahead of second-placed Leeds, who play Millwall tomorrow.

Premier League If the results stay the same, Forest will jump above Everton and Brentford into 15th place and Luton will be four points adrift of Everton having played a game more. I was going to say Luton really can’t afford to lose today, but who knows what might happen with the points deductions.

Burnley 1-0 Brentford Apparently the technology didn’t break down earlier on; PGMOL say they were checking offside which is why the penalty appeal didn’t appear on the screen. On Sky, Mike Dean looks less than convinced.

GOAL! Luton 0-1 Nottm Forest (Wood 34)

Chris Wood has scored a B.I.G. goal for Forest at Kenilworth Road. Gibbs-White made it with an early cross on the turn, and Wood stretched to volley past Kaminski with the outside of his right foot.

Updated

GOAL! Osasuna 1-2 Real Madrid (Carvajal 18)

Dani Carvajal has restored Real’s lead with a neat finish after excellent play from Fede Valverde.

Updated

Luton 0-0 Nottm Forest This sounds like a cracking game, and Jordan Clark has just made an outstanding goalline clearance to deny Divock Origi.

Osasuna 1-1 Real Madrid

SV Darmstart 98 1-2 Bayern Munich Harry Kane’s 31st goal is a new record for a player in his first Bundesliga season. It will be beyond perverse if, as looks likely, he wins bugger all this season.

GOAL! Osasuna 1-1 Real Madrid (Budimir 7)

That didn’t take long either. Ante Budimir has equalised for Osasuna after a corner was screwed back across goal towards him. He finished smartly with his left foot.

Updated

Luton 0-0 Nottm Forest Now Forest have had a couple of chances, the best of which (apparently) was headed wide by Willy Boly.

GOAL! Osasuna 0-1 Real Madrid (Vinicius Jr 4)

That didn’t take long. The last Osasuna defender farts around on the ball, mistaking himself for Morten Olsen. Vinicius Junior disabuses him of that notion by nicking the ball and running through to score with ease.

Updated

GOAL! Ipswich 1-0 Sheff Wed (Hutchinson 15)

A win is essential for promotion-chasing Ipswich today; Omari Hutchinson has put them on their way.

GOAL! SV Darmstadt 98 1-2 Bayern Munich (Kane 45+1)

Harry Kane scores his 31st league goal of the season to give Bayern the lead. Typical goal: sharp movement and a stooping header into the corner from Joshua Kimmich’s cross.

Updated

Luton 0-0 Nottm Forest Ross Barkley has hit the post for Luton, who continue to dominate according to the man on TV who is actually able to watch the game.

Jacob Bruun Larsen hits an excellent penalty to give Burnley the lead. Mark Flekken went the right way but the boy Gadget woiuld have done well to save that.

REGUILON SENT OFF!

Burnley 0-0 Brentford That’s a big moment because most people would have fancied Brentford to win today and put some distance between themselves and Luton/Forest. Not any more.

The monitor is working! It sounds like Reguilon is in big trouble because he kneed and pushed Vitinho from behind; as he wasn’t trying to play the ball directly, he should be sent off.

GOAL! SV Darmstadt 1-1 Bayern Munich (Musiala 36)

I take it all back; Harry Kane has made an equaliser for Jamal Musiala.

VAR FARCE INCOMING!

Burnley 0-0 Brentford The referee has been asked to look at a potential Burnley penalty – but the monitor isn’t working. Oh lordy. It sounds like it’s a clear penalty and a potential red card for Sergio Reguilon.

Updated

GOAL! SV Darmstadt 98 1-0 Bayern Munich (Skarke 28)

Oh, Bayern. They’ye fallen behind to the bottom club Darmstadt and could be able to slip even further behind Leverkusen. Tim Skarke finished coolly after a thrilling run from Mathias Honsak.

Updated

Hello everyone. Thanks to Taha for doing the sour metres, to borrow Soren Busk’s memorable expression. Now it’s time for goalflashes galore. Talking of which…

OK, Rob’s in to take over from me, having already had plenty of fun watching the madness at Molineux. Here’s Ben Fisher’s report from there.

The teams for the 3pm Premier League kick-offs, in case you were wondering:

GOAL! Swansea 2-0 Cardiff (Lowe 90+6)

It’s all over in the South Wales derby, with Jamal Lowe adding a second for Swansea in added time. He hurried down the left wing, cut into the box, skipped past the keeper and slotted in to cue jubilant scenes among the home support.

Anywho, here’s an interesting piece on which sides have it toughest in the Premier League run-in – and it’s not looking all that great for Luton.

Brentford, Forest and Everton face the easiest, fourth-easiest and fifth-easiest run-ins, respectively, according to our model. They all have to play all three of the promoted sides, so there will be a huge amount of pressure on those matches against Luton. Luton’s hopes may ultimately hinge on whether Forest end up, like Everton, being given a points deduction.

Updated

MY WORD! Coventry have won 3-2 at Molineux. Sorry, I know I should be focused on my stuff but you ought to read Rob on this, right now.

And now Wolves lead 2-1. Once again, Coventry fans, I apologise. Elsewhere Swansea are still 1-0 up in the early kick-off in the Championship thanks to a Liam Cullen goal. He could have had a second in the South Wales derby, but missed a penalty a few minutes into the second half.

Apologies to Coventry fans for my work below. Wolves are level.

Rob, of course, is busy at the moment watching a potential upset: Coventry still lead Wolves 1-0 at Molineux in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Not much time left in that one.

Preamble

Hello, hello, hello and welcome to the show. Yes, I know, the big one is the FA Cup this weekend but somebody’s got to man the 3pm fort. The Premier League action comes exclusively from the bottom of the table, with Burnley (19th) v Brentford (15th) and Luton (18th) v Nottingham Forest (17th). With Burnley looking likely to go down, it’s the latter that’s the more tasty fixture, with Luton three points behind Forest and trailing by two in terms of goal difference – deliver in front of a bouncing Kenilworth Road today and the hosts could climb out of the relegation zone.

Beyond the Prem, there are games to keep tabs on across the lower leagues and Europe – Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are both having a kickabout – so don’t leave me, pretty please. I’ll keep things ticking over before Rob Smyth enters the room.
