Burnley set hefty Nathan Collins price amid Leeds United, Newcastle and Aston Villa links

Leeds United will have to pay £25million if they are to tempt Burnley into selling centre back Nathan Collins. That is according to the Sunday Mirror, who claim that the Clarets are willing to listen to offers for Collins, but it will take a substantial fee to prise him away from Turf Moor.

Leeds are just one of a number of Premier League sides keen on signing the 21-year-old defender, with Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers all mentioned as potential destinations. Collins only signed for Burnley from Stoke City last summer in a deal worth around £12 million, but after an impressive second half of the season, the Clarets are looking to double their money.

Following relegation to the Championship on the final day of the season, Burnley have appointed former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany as their new manager. And although that will be a clear attraction for any centre-back such as Collins, he did cast doubt over his future during an interview on international duty with Republic of Ireland.

He said: “Who knows that question where I’ll even be in 10 days. I don’t know that myself so we will see what happens.” Reports have gathered pace in recent days over Leeds’ interest in Collins, though any move by the Whites this summer is likely to rely on at least one of their current centre-backs leaving the club.

Leeds currently have Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk, Charlie Cresswell and Leo Hjelde as options in that position. Given their pressing needs elsewhere, it is hard to envisage Leeds spending £25 million on a position they are already well stocked in.
