Burnley preparing swoop for Swansea City's Joel Latibeaudiere

Burnley are weighing up a possible move for Swansea City defender Joel Latibeaudiere.

Sources have told WalesOnline the Clarets are currently preparing a bid for the defender, which would potentially be worth around £500,000.

The 22-year-old currently has one year left on his current deal at the Swansea.com Stadium, and is well known to new Burnley boss Vincent Kompany, having played and trained with the Belgian during their time at Manchester City together.

Kompany recently took the reins at Turf Moor following the departure of predecessor Sean Dyche, and could now make the versatile defender his first signing. It's understood a bid could be submitted early next week.

Latibeaudiere was the subject of loan interest from elsewhere in the Championship back in January, but stayed on to become a first- team regular under boss Russell Martin towards the end of the season.

His form even saw him earn an international call-up for Jamaica earlier in the summer, having previously come through the age grades for England.

Indeed, it was his time with the England's under-17s set-up that arguably sowed the seeds for his move to south Wales, with ex-Three Lions boss Steve Cooper bringing him to Swansea back in 2020.

He has since gone on to make 42 appearances for the Swans, scoring one goal. Swansea have had a reasonably quiet start to the summer window, with centre-back Nathan Wood currently their only new senior arrival, although Troy Parrott and Lynden Gooch are believed to be among those currently on the radar.
