Leeds United have suffered a big blow in the fight for Premier League survival before their game against Manchester City even kicks off. That is because Burnley managed to come back from behind to win 2-1 at Watford earlier in the afternoon, leapfrogging the Whites into 16th place.
The result also means that Norwich have been relegated to the Championship after they were beaten by Aston Villa. The Clarets have now won three in a row to go above Leeds on goal difference, with the Whites’ game in hand at Manchester City on the way.
Burnley had conceded early on at Vicarage Road via a James Tarkowski own-goal but piled the pressure on a fragile Hornets side. Watford had lost their last 10 at home - including a recent 3-0 defeat to Leeds - and looked like a side just waiting to be beaten.

Mike Jackson’s side finally broke through on 82 minutes through Jack Cork, before Josh Brownhill’s 86th-minute winner turned it around. Burnley are now five points clear of Everton, who occupy the final relegation place and play Chelsea on Sunday.
The win places Leeds as Everton’s closest survival rivals, now, with a huge game at Elland Road due to kick off in minutes. A win could take the Whites back above Burnley and relieve the pressure, simultaneously heaping it on the struggling Toffees.
