Burnley boss Sean Dyche gives verdict on Antonio Conte situation amid Tottenham struggles

Burnley manager Sean Dyche praised Antonio Conte’s management skills after Tottenham fell to defeat at the hands of the Clarets on Wednesday night.

The 1-0 loss at Turf Moor marked a fourth defeat in five Premier League games for Spurs, something that the head coach didn’t take lightly.

Speaking to the press shortly after the game, the Italian questioned if he was the right man for the job with the Lilywhites.

He said: “I came here to help the club and if the problem could be the coach I'm ready to go, no problem.

"I am not used to this situation. I am trying everything but the situation is not changing. I am available and open with the club to do what the club wants.”

It has thrown the immediate future of the head coach into doubt at the club, amid all of their current struggles.

Tottenham are left in eighth, seven points behind Manchester United in fourth-place, but with two games in hand over the Red Devils in what has become an uphill battle for the side.

Burnley manager Dyche, who masterminded the 1-0 victory over Spurs on Wednesday, was asked about the comments made by Conte in his press conference.

The Englishman went on record to praise the Italian, before claiming he doesn’t know exactly why he made his comments.

He said: “He’s [Antonio Conte] a very experienced manager. He’s won many things and he’s worked with some of the top players, certainly in Europe if not the World, so he’ll have a feeling why his words are what they are.

“I certainly wouldn’t throw an opinion on that, in my experience it’s a tough job and the only thing I would say is it’s weirdly kind of… levelling when you see managers of his level still finding the job tough, still finding the challenges that come with it.

“You know, because you do forget that it’s a tough job, even for some of the most experienced managers out there, it’s still a tough job you know, still a tough ask at times and he’s obviously feeling that.

“I don’t know whether the team are not how he wants it or the club or whatever, I don’t know, but he’ll have his own explanations on that. Certainly not for me to explain other than my respect for managers like him.”

It gives an insight into the view of Conte from another Premier League manager, who has managed his own level of success while at Burnley.

What happens next at Spurs is yet to be seen, but there will have to be a sense of direction for the club and the manager to move forward in.
