Burglars escape with huge haul of antiques from house in Cheshire village

Burglars escaped with a large haul of antiques after breaking into a house in a Cheshire village. Now police are warning dealers across the north west to be vigilant as the crooks attempt to move on the distinctive ornaments.

The items taken include silver plates, and jugs, snuff boxes, and a metal-capped walking stick.

Several pieces have a snake design. Police believe the items may be offered for sale to dealers, pawn shops or online auction sites. Fifteen items were taken and the total value is thought to be several thousand pounds.

Detectives are also appealing for dashcam and CCTV footage that may help identify those responsible. The burglary occurred sometime between 11pm on 1 April and 7.20am the following day at a house in Beech Road, Hartford, near Nantwich.

PC Dan Lee said:“The ornaments are quite distinctive so I would urge any dealers or pawn shops who come across the items pictured to contact police. The same goes for anyone who was in the area around the time of the burglary who may have captured suspicious activity on their dashcam.

“If you have a doorbell camera or CCTV which has captured anything of interest in connection with the burglary please contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML1514437. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 080 555 111
