Authorities in London are currently on the lookout for a burglar who recently carried out a daring heist, stealing over £10 million worth of bespoke jewelry from a residence in north-west London. The incident, which is believed to be one of the largest thefts from a British home, occurred at a property located in the prestigious Avenue Road area.
According to the London Metropolitan Police, the burglary took place on December 7 around 5 p.m. local time. The intruder gained entry to the home through a second-floor window while the occupants were away. The stolen items include £150,000 worth of Hermes Crocodile Kelly handbags, £15,000 in cash, and the bulk of the value, £10.4 million in bespoke jewelry.
The suspect, described as a white male in his late 20s to 30s, was reportedly wearing a dark hoodie, cargo pants, and a baseball hat, with his face concealed during the crime. Among the stolen jewelry are notable pieces such as a 10.73-carat diamond ring from Graff, butterfly diamond rings from De Beers, and items from luxury brands like Hermes, Chopard, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Det. Constable Paulo Roberts, who is leading the investigation, labeled the burglary as a brazen offense, emphasizing the sentimental and unique nature of the stolen jewelry. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as the distinctive pieces could be easily identifiable.
Family representative Csaba Virag suggested that the break-in may have been carried out by a lone individual but speculated that converting the stolen items into cash might involve a broader network. Virag, who was present at the time of the burglary, highlighted the severity of the intrusion into the victims' home.
The authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen jewelry. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of home security and vigilance in safeguarding valuable possessions.
