Burglar escapes with family gold jewellery haul after entering Wollaton home

A burglar is said to have stolen pieces of family gold jewellery from a home in Wollaton.

An intruder is reported to have struck at an address in Rushford Drive between 4.30pm and 11pm on Friday, January 21.

They are alleged to have searched the rooms of the house and stolen a number of rings, bracelets, bracelet bangles, necklaces, earrings and a gold chain anklet.

Nottinghamshire Police said they are checking CCTV footage as part of ongoing enquiries.

In an warning to the public, police constable Imran Ahmed, of the burglary team, said: “We know burglary can have a significant and long-lasting impact on victims, both financially and emotionally, and that is why we are working hard to track down whoever committed this crime and bring them to justice.

"We want everyone to feel safe in their own homes, with minimal risk to their valuables, and we are continuing to work hard to stop burglaries from happening in the first place, including sharing crime prevention advice.

“As part of this ongoing preventative work we are urging people to check their home security and make sure they are not leaving themselves vulnerable to burglars.

“We can’t emphasise enough how important it is to keep your front and back doors are kept locked, even when you’re in the house, and that keys are not left in doors.

“Windows should also be kept locked where possible to deter burglars and sheds and outbuildings should be left secure so tools can’t be used by burglars to break into properties."

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in Rushford Drive between the times stated to get in contact.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist with their investigation.
