Burger lovers can tuck into a freebie this week as "the home of the Whopper" celebrates the opening of a new North East restaurant.
Burger King will be handing out 1,000 free Whoppers this week to mark the launch of its latest venue in North Shields and non-meat eaters need not miss out either as plant-based Whoppers will be an option too. The new restaurant, which is still currently recruiting for staff, is in Bedford Street in the town and is gearing up for a rush of excited locals when its giveaway takes place on Wednesday, August 3.
The offer is available on the Burger King app and those keen to enjoy a free burger are told they will need to be quick off the mark as it will be first-come, first-served. All people need to do is to download the app - they can visit Burger King's site here for a link - to retrieve a code.

Then they just show the code to staff at the counter at the Bedford Street restaurant to claim a free Whopper - before stocks run out. Alasdair Murdoch, chief executive officer of Burger King UK, said: “We know the people of North Shields love the great-tasting food of Burger King, so we’ve listened to their requests and are very excited to bring all their favourites back to their neighbourhood."
Anyone who misses out on Wednesday are told that the app includes a range of other offers they can take advantage of, such as a Whopper for £1.99 available at any Burger King branch every Wednesday. The new North Shields restaurant, which the fast food chain says has created 15 new jobs in the area, is currently recruiting for a restaurant manager and assistant manager.
For information about the respective jobs see here and here. Delivery via Deliveroo and Uber Eats will be available from August 9.
The Burger King app also can be downloaded via Google Play here or App Store here.
