Burger featuring dim sum and potato cake voted as Australia’s best

A burger made with dim sum and potato cakes has been deemed Australia’s best.

The burger, called Motz Madness and made by Melbourne restaurant Easey’s, won the LITT Burger of Origin competition. It comes with onions smashed into two beef patties, plus double American cheddar, a potato cake and a dim sim all smashed between a bun.

Speaking to news.com.au, owner and man behind the bun Jimmy Hurlston said he designed the burger based on foods he enjoyed while he was growing up and that he was “humbled” by the win.

“The burger industry is a small place so I know the competition well and knew it was going to be tough to even make the final,” he said.

Chief judge Cal Stubbs, a professional competitive eater who judged between 17 restaurants, added: “It was a nail biting competition that all came down to the final tasting.

“The competition was really tight between the final four burger joints and only after the final tasting could I decide on a clear-cut winner. I couldn’t go past Easey’s’ Motz Madness burger.

“It was soft on the mouth and the onions worked perfectly.”

He added: “Australians need to come down and give it a try, even the fussiest of eaters will love this burger, you definitely won’t regret it.”

The competition was organised by social media app LITT to help reignite the hospitality sector in Australia.

Sounds pretty delicious.
