Bundobust among bars and restaurants boycotting Russian products to show support for Ukraine

A number of bar companies are boycotting Russian products to show solidarity with Ukraine - including Liverpool favourite, Bundobust.

Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered Russian military forces to invade neighbouring Ukraine on February 24, despite international condemnation. Putin's forces have targeted the capital Kyiv, as well as major cities Kharkiv and Chernihiv.

As conflict continues, many in the hospitality industry are looking to show their opposition to Russia.

The Caterer reports bar group Arc Inspirations, which runs 18 sites across the north of England, has taken a stand and pledged its support to the people of Ukraine. Taking to Twitter, the bar penned: "To show our support to the people of Ukraine we will no longer be pouring any Russian vodka in any of our bars".

Entrepreneur and ex-Dragon's Den investor Sarah Willingham, founder of bar group Nightcap, also took to the hit social media platform to pledge support, revealing all Russian vodkas had been removed from the group's bars, which include the Adventure Bar and London Cocktail Club brands.

Willingham tweeted: "We removed all Russian vodkas from all of our bars last week", adding a text image detailing brands of vodka produced in other countries.

In Liverpool, many bars and nightclubs could follow suit, with Bundobust founder Marko Aleksandr Husak urging the hospitality industry to boycott Russian products.

Taking to Twitter, Husak said: "I've had quite a few messages from my colleagues in the restaurant, bar and beer industries asking if there is anything that they can do to help, so I've suggested that they can help by stop stocking Russian products."

The vegetarian and vegan street food giant, which has a branch on Bold Street, was recently named in the prestigious annual Observer Food Monthly list for its impressive beverages. Bundobust, which started in Leeds and also has a branch in Manchester, has its own brewery which offers a range of drinks, including classic IPAs and lager.

Bundobust can be found at 17-19 Bold Street, Liverpool L1 4DN.
