A German footballer has been arrested by police in Ibiza on suspicion of raping a Spanish teenager.
Atakan Karazor, 25, who plays for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, was held along with a man of the same age after the 18-year-old told detectives she had been sexually assaulted at a villa in the municipality of San Jose a short drive from the island airport.
Stuttgart confirmed Karazor was being held and said they were now in “constant contact” with their legal team.

The two men, who are both German, are understood to have been held on Wednesday hours after the alleged attack took place.
It was not immediately clear this morning if the men arrested have appeared before an investigating judge in an initial court hearing.
The behind-closed-doors hearing would take place to decide whether they should be released on bail pending an ongoing criminal probe or remanded in custody.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard confirmed: “Two German nationals have been arrested after a woman told police she had been sexually assaulted in Ibiza.
“An investigation is ongoing.”
The villa where the alleged sex attack is said to have occurred is understood to be near Cova Santa, an ancient natural cave with a large restaurant, lounge garden and club where shows and concerts are organised during the summer.
Court officials could not be reached early this morning for comment on the case.
