Bumblebee's extreme close-up as it investigates outdoor camera

A bumblebee gave a resident an extreme close-up as it investigated the doorbell camera. The fuzzy friend came closer to inspect the Ring camera and gave us a super-close look at its black and yellow stripes.

Mark W from South London sent the clip to Ring after he caught the fuzzy creature on his Ring Stick Up Cam. In the clip the bee is seen coming up close to the camera before flying away to find flowers to pollinate.

Mark told Ring: “During the summer months it’s great to see bees buzzing around in our garden. We spotted this little guy on our Stick Up Cam and thought it was funny to see him up close to the camera as if to say hello!”

Different steps can be taken to support the Bee conservation efforts in the UK - and increase your chances of capturing similar Bee content. A simple way to help bumblebees at home and in your local community is to look at what plants are bee-friendly and add them to your garden between March and September.

Quite often bees are also mistaken for wasps because of their similar colouring. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust shares on its webpage helpful ways people can identify different bumblebees, including the shape of their body and the colour of their tail.
