A Nottinghamshire college student was left "a shell of herself" after she was attacked by a group of youths while walking home from the cinema. The 17-year-old said she was hit between 20 and 30 times on the head, stamped on, and had an electric scooter thrown at her by the group in Bulwell.
The youngster was walking in Commercial Road on Saturday, May 6, when she first encountered the group near the Greggs store. She added that the group continued to follow her to Market Garage where the violent attack took place.
A relative of the youngster, Donna Smalley, said: "They grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the floor. It was disgusting, there were about 12 or 14 of them stamping on her.

"After the attack, all her ears were badly bruised, she has defence marks all over her hands. She has bruises all over her legs. She had stamp marks on the back of her jumper."
She was then taken to hospital where she had a CT scan and X-ray and was kept in overnight until 10am the following day. Donna said the altercation started when one of the group claimed the 17-year-old had spat at them.
The college student then tried to defuse the situation but claimed the group persisted. Nottinghamshire police attended the incident, but Donna claimed that no witness statements have been collected from those who witnessed the attack, and officers have not given an update on the investigation.
Speaking on the impact of the attack, the 57-year-old added: "Physically she's healing but unfortunately mentally it's hard. She was having a break from college due to anxiety. Whether she'll go back next year I'm not sure.
"She's been told by the police not to go out on her own. She's just a shell of herself at the moment, it's really sad to see, to be honest."
Donna, who also lives in Bulwell, said the attack was just one of a number of incidents in the town. She added: "There's a group that's been hanging around Bulwell for over a year now that's causing intimidation.
"Something worse is going to happen if this isn't stopped. People in Bulwell are getting sick and tired of these kids, the harassment and the intimidation.
"I just want to remind people that everything needs reporting. This is appalling behaviour that needs to be stopped and the police need to do something about this gang on children."
Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Ferguson said: “Police were called to Pilkington Street in Bulwell after a girl was assaulted by a group on Saturday 6 May.
The victim was punched and kicked and received minor injuries. Police have spoken to the victim at length and her family. We have also interviewed two suspects, aged 16 and 14, and the investigations are ongoing to identify others involved. We are also making a number of lines of inquiry which includes CCTV.
We take any reports of assault extremely seriously and this matter is currently being investigated by officers.”
