The Chicago Bulls kicked off their Summer League schedule against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. They picked up a win, though it was an ugly one. Chicago won 83-74 in a low-scoring affair, and the Bulls didn’t shoot particularly well. They shot 39.0% from the field and 34.5% from behind the three-point line.
But just because the Bulls didn’t shoot very well as a team doesn’t mean certain individuals didn’t stand out. While Chicago obviously wants to win, Summer League is more about evaluating talent than it is about racking up wins and losses, and a few players stood out among the rest against Toronto.

The Bulls need three-point shooting, and Nate Darling does just that. He’s a lethal shooter with a quick trigger and had a solid first game. Darling poured in a team-high 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting overall and 3-of-7 shooting from deep.

After an impressive G League season this past year, Javon Freeman-Liberty carried over his solid play to Summer League. He dropped 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the first game, doing a little bit of everything for Chicago.

Yago Dos Santos came off the bench, and while his stats don’t jump off the page, he made an impact. His quickness and shooting were crucial for Chicago. Dos Santos finished with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block while shooting 3-of-6 from the field (all threes).
