The Chicago Bulls are off to a 2-2 start to the 2022-23 regular season, fresh off an impressive 120-102 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday.
ESPN’s NBA experts update their NBA Power Rankings every week, which landed the Bulls at No. 23 for Week 2, falling from their No. 17 ranking in the preseason.
Jamal Collier explains:
After going 1-14 against the four East semifinalists (Milwaukee, Boston, Miami and Philadelphia) last season, the Bulls picked up wins against the Celtics and Heat in the season’s opening week. The Bulls still have offensive issues to iron out (25th in offensive efficiency and 28th in 3-pointers per game), but they have been about league average on defense to help fuel a .500 start.
Collier is right, the Bulls have already earned two wins against the two upper echelon teams in the East in Boston and Miami, which begs to differ on why the Bulls find themselves so low in this week’s ranking coming off such a convincing win over the Celtics.
