The Chicago Bulls are off to a 4-4 start to the 2022-23 regular season, fresh off an impressive 108-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, led by Zach LaVine’s 29-point performance.
ESPN’s NBA experts update their NBA Power Rankings every week, which landed the Bulls at No. 20 for Week 3, jumping three spots from last week’s rankings.
Jamal Collier explains:
After struggling defensively at the end of last season, the Bulls have been in the top half of the league (13th entering Tuesday) on defense to start the season thanks to the pesky contributions of Alex Caruso and Javonte Green. Both Caruso and Green rank in the top five in the NBA in deflections, and Green leads the NBA in deflections per 36 minutes.
The Bulls are on an upward swing with Zach LaVine starting to find his groove and Patrick Williams starting to make an impact after a slow start to the season. If the defensive effort can continue, Chicago should be able to remain in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
