Bulls’ Coby White, Dalen Terry working with DeMar DeRozan’s trainer

Heading into the summer, the Chicago Bulls will have to make some serious roster decisions. A big part of that will be adding free agents and attacking the trade market, as the roster, as currently constructed, isn’t guaranteed to be a playoff team. External aid will help the Bulls push forward, but so will internal development.

With Lonzo Ball likely to be sidelined for the entirety of next season, Chicago’s guards will have some big opportunities. Chicago needs to re-sign Coby White, but he could earn extra minutes, as could Dalen Terry, who just wrapped up his rookie season. Both are working on their games this summer.

According to Daniel Greenberg, both White and Terry are working with DeMar DeRozan‘s trainer, Johnny Stephene, who specializes in ball handling.

“Chicago Bulls guards Coby White and Dalen Terry have been training with DeMar DeRozan’s trainer Johnny Stephene who specializes in ball handling,” Greenberg tweeted.

White burst onto the scene a bit in the latter stages of this past season, earning more opportunities as the year wound down. He’ll be battling with Ayo Dosunmu, Alex Caruso, and Terry for guard minutes.

Meanwhile, Terry spent most of his rookie year on the bench, with a few games played in the G League. He showed some solid potential, and the Bulls could be smart to give him some more looks in the rotation next season.

For a Chicago squad led by a core group of veterans, building up a young core will be key to brightening their future.
