Cronulla have rewarded the form of Tongan wrecking ball Siosifa Talakai with a new contract through to the end of 2026.
Already contracted for this season, Talakai's three-year deal follows a breakout season under Craig Fitzgibbon in which he earned Test and State of Origin honours for the first time.
The back-rower or centre, 25, finished the 2022 season with seven tries in 21 appearances but missed the Sharks' last finals game against South Sydney with a shoulder injury.
"I'm very grateful for the opportunities the Sharks have provided me to this point and really excited to be extending my contact and remaining at the club for the next four years," Talakai said.
Elsewhere, Canterbury have released outside back Corey Allan from the final year of his NRL contract.
Allan played 21 games for the Bulldogs across two seasons after sealing a switch to Belmore from South Sydney following his performances in Queensland's 2020 State of Origin side.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Sydney Roosters, who lost Oliver Gildart (the Dolphins), Adam Keighran (Catalans) and Kevin Naiqama (Huddersfield) at the end of the season.
