Bukayo Saka makes World Cup Golden Boot claim as England prepare for France quarter-final clash

Bukayo Saka has insisted that he's fully focused on winning the World Cup with England despite the fact he's in with a shot of securing the Golden Boot.

The England winger is currently on three goals for the tournament, two behind current leader, Kylian Mbappe. However, if the Three Lions manage to beat the current holders of the competition on Saturday, the latter of those two stars won't have another chance to extend that number.

Speaking to Josh Denzel in the Lions' Den ahead of the crunch quarter-final clash, via Sky Sports, Arsenal's Saka said: "No (it's not on my mind), obviously that would be nice but it's not on my mind at all. Right now I'm just focused on helping the team get to the next round, then the next round, (then) the next round and hopefully we can win this World Cup.

"Yeah, if I do get it, it will be nice but there will be nothing better than obviously winning the World Cup."

The England winger scored the third and final goal in what was a convincing performance against Africa Cup of Nations holders Senegal last weekend. The French put in a dominant performance of their own against Poland, winning 3-1, but Gareth Southgate's side are confident of getting a result at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Although there's been nothing said about the team news just yet, Saka is tipped to start the game ahead of Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United star is also on three goals, but other than the 3-0 win over Wales, he's been used as an impact sub by manager Gareth Southgate.
