Bukayo Saka has already delivered eight-word verdict on his Arsenal future amid contract update

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has already expressed his desire to stay with the club for the foreseeable future as more reports regarding his future emerge.

Saka has become an essential figure at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, scoring nine goals in 28 Premier League games this season and providing a further five assists. The Gunners are closing in on a place in next season's Champions League and it is impossible to ignore the 20-year-old's contribution to that achievement.

But as is so often the case in modern football, his consistent form has led to speculation that he could be a target for those challenging for titles. Liverpool have been a rumoured destination with Jurgen Klopp said to be a big fan and the Gunners are reportedly eager to tie their star man down to new and improved terms to stave off such attentions.

Saka last signed a new deal in the summer of 2020, keeping him at the club until 2023 when the option of an additional year's extension would become available. This, however, does not appear to offer quite enough security for the club going forward.

As per The Athletic, preliminary discussions have already been held between the club and Saka's agent, with a potential new deal part of those talks. The report indicates that it is likely both parties will soon move forward with more formal talks as they look to thrash out a deal.

But the England international has already emphasised his love for the club in the past and it seems unlikely that the man who grew up in the Hale End academy will have had his head turned in the two years since.

Taking to his official Twitter account after putting pen to paper in 2020, Saka delivered his eight-word verdict: “London is my home. Arsenal is my team." He went on to add: “I'm so happy to finally announce my contract extension. I love playing for this club and I'm looking forward to what the future holds. The hard work continues so I can continue living my dream.”
