Bukayo Saka handed Champions League warning as Arsenal star linked with summer transfer

With Manchester United and Tottenham both dropping points this week, Arsenal's win against Wolves on Thursday night has now put them in a great position to finish in this season's top four.

There have been plenty of standout performers for the Gunners, with Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Martin Odegaard all showered with immense praise for their efforts throughout the season.

But arguably Arsenal's most influential player has been Bukayo Saka, who has continued to be a key cog in the way Arsenal function in the final third.

Despite being frequently left doubled up on, Saka has still been able to influence proceedings particularly with the way he creates space for others along with delivering end product with both feet.

The form the young Hale End Graduate has shown since breaking into the first team back in 2019 is remarkable and it's no surprise to see many top clubs reportedly interested in acquiring his signature, with Manchester City and Liverpool both said to be interested.

Saka's current contract runs out in 2024, hence why Arteta is extremely keen in extending his contract and the Spaniard believes that Champions League qualification would “help” persuade the winger to pledge his future to the Gunners.

Former England defender Danny Mills, however, believes that Saka should continue to concentrate in helping Arsenal finish in the best position possible, as he has done, since the chances of him playing regular game time for a Champions League club right now are small.

“It’s alright saying you want to play Champions League football – but it ain’t going to happen,” he said.

“Man City isn’t happening. You’ve got Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish – and whoever else is on their radar.

“When you look at it – Liverpool, Man City, probably Chelsea will get Champions League football. I doubt he’ll go to any of those clubs this summer.

“It’s alright to have ambitions of playing Champions League football. But there are only four clubs who can give you that each season.

“All he can do is concentrate and keep playing well. He’s getting better all the time. If he keeps putting in good performances, then he could even elevate Arsenal into those positions."
