Bukayo Saka has opened up on his heartbreak regarding Arsenal 's Premier League title challenge.
Saka enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 campaign, netting 13 Premier League goals and providing a further 11 assists, numbers that helped his side lead the league for the majority of the season. But ultimately, the north Londoners struggled during the final stretch of the season, winning only two of their last nine league fixtures.
That allowed Manchester City to beat them to the title, something that Saka has admitted really hurt him and his teammates. Speaking about the season to Gunners icon Ian Wright, the England international told the club's official media: "Obviously, speaking about this season, it hurts a lot, it really hurts so much to even think about how we've ended this season and what could have been."

He added: "One thing I can say is, since the last two or three years I've been playing, I've seen this team and club grow in the right direction. One thing the club, the fans can be excited about is that obviously, we are going in the right direction if you look at the last two or three years.
"I think when the dust settles and all the negative emotions are out, I think everyone can look at us and be excited about the future.
Saka signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium earlier this week, rewarded for his hard work on and off the pitch by officially putting pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract with Arsenal and as the deal is thought to be worth at least £200,000-a-week, but could rise to £300,000-a-week due to bonuses, he becomes the club's best-paid player.
