Bukayo Saka contract delay, William Saliba boost, Arsenal's Zinchenko fitness doubt vs Liverpool

After an impressive start to the season Arsenal face perhaps their biggest test so far with the visit of Liverpool on Sunday. They go into the game having gone top of their Europa League group with a 3-0 win over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, but despite the result Mikel Arteta was far from satisfied.

"We had spells that we were too rushed, we didn’t win enough duels, we didn’t manage the ball when we won it back well enough so it became a really open game with a lot of transitions," the Spaniard told football.london in his post-match press conference. "When you have the results in your hands you have to manage the game much better. We didn’t put 10, 15 passes together enough times to try and get in to the final third."

To make things a little more concerning Oleksandr Zinchenko was absent from the squad entirely after missing out on training on Wednesday ahead of the game. The Ukrainian has been battling injuries a lot this season and would be a huge miss if he was unable to feature against Liverpool.

There has at least been a bit of a boost when it comes to the contract negotiations of three of Arsenal's brightest stars. football.london understands that Arsenal have the options to trigger a one year extension on the deals of William Saliba and Bukayo Saka, and a two year option on Gabriel Martinelli's contract. Such a clause puts the Gunners in a far stronger position as talks go on with all three players representatives.

So with all that in mind it feels like the perfect time for a Q&A with our chief Arsenal correspondent Kaya Kaynak.
