Bukayo Saka and Levi Colwill missed England training on Tuesday, as Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys and Tottenham midfielder Alfie Devine were drafted in to train with the squad.
Callum Wilson also missed the session at St George’s Park to allow versatile former Chelsea midfielder Lewis Hall to also step up from the Under-21s to train under Gareth Southgate for the first time.
There are few fears over Saka, Colwill and Wilson, with the trio having their fitness managed with less taxing solo sessions after the opening weeks of the Premier League season.
Chelsea sent Colwill for a scan before the defender linked up with the England squad, which cleared him as fully fit ahead of a potential senior international debut.
Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold have already pulled out of the squad due to injury, but no replacements were called up.
The rest of Southgate’s squad trained as normal in the unseasonably hot 25C temperatures in the Midlands, including uncapped Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
England can take a major step towards qualification for Euro 2024 with a victory over Ukraine, in Poland, on Saturday evening.
They will then face Scotland in a friendly to mark 150 years since the two nations competed in world football’s first international friendly.
