Buildings evacuated as three-car smash at West Lothian petrol station sparks fears of gas leak

Police evacuated people from buildings near a petrol station last night over fears of a gas leak caused by a three-car crash.

Officers alerted the public via Twitter, saying they were in attendance at the Morrisons petrol station in the Almondvale area of Livingston.

Surrounding roads were also closed as a precaution following the smash, with police asking people to avoid the area.

Roads were closed between Adambrae, Almondvale and Newpark Road roundabouts, as well as Alderstone Road.

Police said: “Officers are assisting with a crash involving three vehicles at a petrol station in the Almondvale area of Livingston.

“Nearby buildings have been evacuated as a precaution following a suspected gas leak caused by the collision.

“The public is asked to avoid the area as there are a number of road closures in place. Roads are closed between the Adambrae, Almondvale and Newpark Road roundabouts, as is Alderstone Road.”
