A man says he earned £180,000 by reselling household items in just one year. Luke Williams, 23, started selling old phones online while working on a building site because his wages were not covering his bills, reports the Daily Star.
In June 2021 Luke sourced the household items from wholesalers and sold them on Amazon. He was earning £1,000 a month when he first started but was soon racking in a whopping £30,000 a month, and was able to quit his job in January 2022.
Those first 12 months, he made £180,000 of profit by reselling household products such as meat grinders and air fresheners.
The re-seller, from Bristol, said: "I started out by buying old phones from Facebook and reselling them on eBay. I only wanted to make an extra £1,000 a month as it would help me with the extra payments I had.
"I went to university, studied building and surveying and went to work on a building site. I did that for about a year.
"I started selling on Amazon in June 2021. I made £180,000 in profit with most of that coming from the last six months."
Luke graduated in June 2020 and started working on a building site. but soon realised he wasn't earning enough money to pay for all his household bills.
He added: "I just wasn't making enough money. I came across Amazon FBA and realised I could buy from wholesalers and sell on the app too.
"What I sell ranges from air fresheners, meat grinders, phones, kids' toys and changing mats. Thornton's chocolate are really popular at the minute."
He claimed most of his profits were earned in the past six months but said the cost of living crisis played a part in this.
"It's not just food prices that have rocketed, so have petrol prices," he continued.
"People don't want to be leaving the house and driving to the supermarket. If you buy things on Amazon, you can get them cheaper as you don't have to pay to get to the supermarket either."
Luke's says his new found wealth means he's been able to pay off a debt for his Mercedes Benz and fly business class to Abu Dhabi.
And he has also taken on staff since starting the business, hiring two people to prepare and source the products.
