Builder cut in half by forklift rushed to hospital with new horror health scare

A builder who miraculously survived a freak accident on a construction site cut his body in half has been rushed to hospital with possible sepsis. Loren Schauers, 20, fell 50ft and was left trapped under a forklift which severed his forearm and crushed his lower body in the horror incident in September 2019.

The young labourer, from Great Falls in Montana, bravely gave doctors permission to perform hemicorperectomy surgery - amputating everything below his waist in a last ditch attempt to save his life. Amazing, Loren pulled through, and for the last three years has been documenting his recovery and sharing details of his new life - turning him into an internet sensation in the process.

However, he shared an emotional post yesterday afternoon (August 25) telling his thousands of followers that he is now facing another health scare. As reported by the Daily Star, Loren said: "Your boy Loren is being admitted into hospital (might be sepsis), this'll be fun to try and fight."

Since Loren posted, there has been no further update from him or his wife Sabia Reiche, 23, on social media. Loren's hospitalisation comes just days after he created a GoFundMe page for a new bionic arm which has already raised $90k, or £76.6k.

He said that the arm "will restore full sense of touch and movement of each digit in the hand," and "bring so much more to my life." Loren wrote on the GoFundMe page: "This fight has been a crazy one! I’m happy to say though that I have a Million And One people backing me and rooting me on to keep fighting! I love and appreciate you all! Words don’t do any of you all justice!"

Due to Loren's mobility issues, Sabia has to perform many day to day tasks for Loren including changing his colostomy bags and showering him. Loren's operation led to the removal of his genitalia as his pelvis had been completely crushed, leading to irksome questions about how he and his wife have sex.

Responding to the question of sex on a Q&A, Loren's wife Sabia said the question was 'disrespectful'. She said: "A question we get repeatedly is how do we have sex and how do we become intimate.

"That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to as it's very disrespectful. You wouldn't ask a random couple on the street how they have sex and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn't give people the right to ask."
