Buha: LeBron James has been keen on playing with Kyrie Irving again

The Los Angeles Lakers were in pursuit of Kyrie Irving not too long ago, and just about everyone knew about it. They tried trading for him last summer, and once he officially asked to be traded by the Brooklyn Nets at midseason, Los Angeles made one more attempt to get him.

But that last attempt fell through, and Irving was sent to the Dallas Mavericks days later. Earlier this summer, there were again rumors the All-Star guard could come to L.A., but he instead re-signed with Dallas after becoming a free agent.

After the very solid offseason the Lakers have had, it would seem as if the days of chasing after Irving are over. However, according to Jovan Buha on “The Athletic NBA Show,” the Irving-to-the-Lakers rumors could resurface by the midseason.

Via Fadeaway World:

“LeBron was still pushing for Kyrie, as recently as this offseason. … He’s made it very clear that he and Kyrie have made up.  LeBron has really been very keen on potentially playing with Kyrie again. I would not be surprised if those rumors up again, closer to the trade deadline, depending on what happens at Dallas.”

Irving’s first few months in Dallas went terribly. The team missed the play-in tournament despite being considered dark-horse contenders. There are still questions about how Irving and Luka Doncic will mesh offensively since both are ball-dominant guards.
