Buffalo Bills cornerback Dane Jackson was forced to leave the pitch via ambulance after suffering a horrific neck injury against the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.
Jackson suffered the injury on second down with under a minute remaining in the first half against the Titans after tackling rookie receiver Treylon Burks from behind. An ambulance quickly arrived on scene and carefully transferred his body from the turf to the vehicle.
The 25-year-old was driven to Ernie County Medical Centre in Buffalo where he was to receive a CT scan and an X-ray. The Bills reported he had full movement in his extremities.
The update was a welcome one following the scary incident, which saw Jackson’s head and neck bend back after colliding with a teammate. Coach Sean McDermott gave an update after the dominant 41-7 win.
“Dane Jackson has full movement in his extremities, which is good, but we are still awaiting more updates,” McDermott said. “I was able to see him in the ambulance at halftime and we are all sending our prayers to him.”
As Jackson lay on Burks’ back, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds dived in late and struck his teammate’s helmet, bending his neck and head in an unnatural way. Footage emerged of Titans running back Hassan Haskins attempting to roll Jackson off his teammate while the defender lay prone.
