Buffalo Bills Prepare for Possible Snowstorm Ahead of Playoff Game

A Buffalo Bills fan clears snow from his row of seats before an NFL wild-card playoff football game between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, in Buffalo, N.Y. (AP P

The Buffalo Bills are closely monitoring the weather forecast as they prepare for their AFC divisional round game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. A potential lake-effect storm is predicted to bring heavy snowfall of up to 2 feet in the Buffalo region, which could pose challenges for the team's practice schedule and travel plans.

Despite the weather uncertainties, the Bills are currently scheduled to practice on Wednesday and Thursday. However, Coach Sean McDermott acknowledges the need to be flexible and adapt to the weather conditions. McDermott stated, 'We've got a plan in place to make sure we're getting the players in at the right time, as well as the staff, and trying to be on top of that from a scheduling standpoint.'

The team and staff are relying on open communication to stay updated on the weather situation and make necessary adjustments. A travel advisory is already in effect for Erie County, and there is a possibility of a travel ban being imposed. This could potentially impact the players' ability to travel to their training facility and further complicate the team's preparations.

The Bills are no strangers to weather-related challenges. Just last weekend, they had to contend with a lake-effect storm that dumped significant amounts of snow. As a result, their wild-card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was rescheduled from Sunday to Monday due to concerns for public safety.

In addition to the weather concerns, the Bills are also facing a short week of practice as they recover from their playoff victory over the Steelers. Furthermore, the team is dealing with several injuries, with at least nine players listed as uncertain for Sunday's game.

Despite these obstacles, McDermott remains confident in his team's resilience and ability to adapt. He mentioned their fighting spirit throughout the season and the players stepping up whenever someone goes down. McDermott emphasized the importance of utilizing treatment opportunities to ensure the team is as healthy as possible come game time.

In other news, the Bills made a roster move on Tuesday, releasing running back Leonard Fournette from their practice squad. This decision reflects the team's ongoing efforts to assess and adjust their personnel.

With the game against the Chiefs approaching, the Bills are keeping a close eye on the weather and making appropriate plans to accommodate potential snowfall. The team's preparations, practice schedule, and travel arrangements will be adjusted accordingly as they aim to navigate these challenges and continue their impressive playoff run.
