Alcohol giants and World Cup sponsor, Budweiser, promptly deleted their blunt response that alcohol sales have been prohibited within football stadiums at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The report, by the New York Times, came just days before the tournament kicks off when Qatar and Ecuador go head-to-head as the sale of alcoholic drinks inside all eight of the stadiums have been banned.
Already in the build-up to the tournament, there had been discussions between organisers but the Qatari royal family made their desire to have all alcohol banned at the World Cup. Qatar is a conservative Muslim country where the sale of alcohol is tightly controlled in the region.

Qatari officials made the ruling on Friday (November 18) which will see just non-alcoholic beverages sold. But now could have an impact on Budweiser's sponsorship deal with FIFA.
Taking to Twitter, the official Budweiser Twitter account published a four-word tweet, which was later deleted, which read: "Well, this is awkward..."
The American lager company signed a $75m (£63m) deal with football's governing body which included the official fan guide pledging sale in-and-around grounds for at least three hours before games and an hour after.
FIFA officials and guests will be allowed to consume alcohol within the stadiums but the latest change comes after Budweiser-branded tents were moved away from the areas surrounding the eight venues.
In a statement, a FIFA spokesperson said: "Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing sales points of beer from Qatar's FIFA World Cup 2022™ stadium perimeters.
"There is no impact to the sale of Bud Zero which will remain available at all Qatar's World Cup stadiums. Host country authorities and FIFA will continue to ensure that the stadiums and surrounding areas provide an enjoyable, respectful and pleasant experience for all fans.
"The tournament organisers appreciate AB InBev's understanding and continuous support to our joint commitment to cater for everyone during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™."
