The high-level committee constituted to ensure the implementation of all budget promises will ensure that work orders for all schemes announced in the budget will be issued on, or before, Wednesday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Sunday.
The Chief Secretary and other officers will be involved in the committee which will ensure that all departments will issue work orders in time, he said.
He was speaking to journalists near his residence in Hubballi on Sunday.
He said that he will meet Union Minister for Water Resources Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the first week of April to try and resolve the various inter-State river water sharing disputes pertaining to the State. To a query, he said that he will lead an all-party delegation, if needed.
“I have instructed officials to obtain all necessary clearances from the Union Environment Ministry. I will also discuss issues such as the Union Government notification on Krishna waters, with legal experts and our legal team in New Delhi,’’ he said.
“The State Government will promote industries in areas that lack industrial development. We are in the process of identifying land and developing industrial estates. We will focus on women empowerment schemes as announced in the budget. We are creating a secondary directorate for agriculture,” he said.
The Dharwad Deputy Commissioner will be asked to look for land for setting up a branch of the Jayadeva heart institute and the Belagavi Deputy Commissioner will be asked to look for land for setting up a branch of Kidwai hospital, he said.
Kalyan Karnataka region will get ₹3,000 crore. “Earlier, plan approvals were taking a lot of time. But we will make sure they happen early. We have also released more funds than the earlier governments have done. We will also speed up railway projects by resolving land acquisition and other issues on priority,” he said.
Reacting to Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah’s statement on headscarves worn by seers and religious heads, he said that there is no need for any comment from any one about hijab as the High Court has already delivered its verdict.
He appealed to students to write the SSLC examinations without any anxiety. “We are conducting simple examinations in the interest of students. They should appear for the examinations without anxiety,” he said.
