Budda Baker, Trey McBride snubbed in PFWA All-NFL, All-NFC teams

The Pro Football Writers of America, comprised of writers across the nation who cover the NFL and its teams, recently released its 2024 player awards for the All-NFL and all-conference teams for both the AFC and NFC.

You can see the All-NFL team here and the rosters for both all-conference teams here.

Nobody on the Arizona Cardinals made it, not even safety Budda Baker or tight end Trey McBride.

Baker was passed over for both the All-NFL and All-NFC teams for Detroit’s Brian Branch and Green Bay’s Xavier McKinney.

Brank had a fantastic season, piling up 108 tackles, picking off four passes and breaking up 16 passes.

McKinney was incredibly productive on the ball. He had eight interceptions and 11 pass breakups to go with 88 total tackles.

Baker piled up tackles with 164, including 95 solo. But he did not have an interception in 2024 and broke up five passes.

Baker, though, made the Pro Bowl for the seventh straight season and was second-team All-Pro.

McBride was passed over for the top tight end spot by rookie Brock Bowers out of Las Vegas, who had 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.

McBride had 111 catches for 1,146 yards and two scores.

But McBride was also snubbed for San Francisco’s George Kittle, who also was fantastic in 2024. He caught 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns.

You could argue that McBride should have had the edge over Kittle, but Kittle has been doing it at the highest level for years.

Though if Kittle is going to get the nod over McBride for the NFC, he probably deserves to be chosen over Bowers.

But with the Cardinals winning only eight games, it will take a little more team success to get more recognition for their top players for awards like these.
